Our system
BioCircular
A better way to farm starts with a better system. We designed our farm as a closed loop, where energy, water, nutrition and natural resources work together to reduce waste.
The idea
Nothing goes to waste if we can help it
At Morning Star Fields, BioCircular farming is the foundation of how we operate. We designed our farm as a closed-loop system where energy, water, nutrition and natural resources work together to reduce waste and create a more responsible approach to food production.
Four loops
What each part of the system replaces
-
Renewable energy
Solar power supports the farm’s energy use — the barns, the packing room and the growing beds all draw from it.
Replaces: grid-only power for the whole operation.
-
Water stewardship
We capture and reclaim water rather than drawing fresh for every use. In Florida, where water is a live public question, that is not a small thing.
Replaces: single-use water on a farm that needs a lot of it.
-
Natural fertiliser
Hen manure is the largest by-product of an egg farm, and on most farms it is a disposal cost. We turn ours into 100% organic fertiliser pellets.
Replaces: a waste line, with a product line.
-
Integrated nutrition
Egg wash water would normally go down a drain. Ours feeds hydroponic growing beds, and the marigolds and leafy greens grown there go back into the hens’ diet.
Replaces: waste water, and part of the bought-in feed bill.
Working with us
01
Tell us what you need
Volume, pack size, delivery window and where you are. We will say plainly whether we can cover it.
02
We confirm supply
You get a straight answer on what we can commit to and how consistently, rather than a promise we cannot keep in a short month.
03
Eggs are laid and packed
Collected and packed on the same farm they were laid on, inside our SQF certified facility.
04
Delivered inside 48 hours
Shipped B2B within roughly 250 miles across Florida, so the case that reaches you is days fresher than a national blend.
Why it matters
A sustainability story you can actually describe
“Sustainable” is a word that has been asked to carry too much. A shelf tag says it, a supplier deck says it, and a buyer has no way to check any of it. That is the problem BioCircular is meant to solve for the people who stock our eggs.
Instead of an adjective, there are four mechanisms, all on one farm outside Vero Beach: solar power, reclaimed water, hen manure turned into organic fertiliser pellets, and egg wash water feeding the hydroponic beds that grow part of the flock’s own feed. Each one closes a line that would otherwise leave the farm as waste.
BioCircular is also about more than production. As a Certified Humane, family-owned farm, we prioritise hen welfare through thoughtful barn design, responsible practices and a safe environment where the flock can thrive. The system and the welfare standard are the same decision made twice.
That is the whole idea behind BioCircular. Nothing goes to waste if we can help it, and what the farm produces helps the farm right back.
Questions
BioCircular, answered
- What does biocircular actually mean?
- It means nothing goes to waste if we can help it. What the farm produces helps the farm right back — manure becomes fertiliser, egg wash water feeds the hydroponics, and the greens grown there go back into the hens’ diet.
- Is this the same as organic or regenerative?
- It overlaps but it is not the same claim. Organic and regenerative are certification and practice standards. BioCircular is how we have engineered the farm: a closed loop where the outputs of one part become the inputs of another. We use no chemicals and no antibiotics on the flock.
- Does it change the eggs?
- Yes, in one visible way. The deep orange yolk colour comes from the hens’ diet, including marigolds and leafy greens we grow on site with reclaimed egg wash water. That is the loop showing up in the carton.
- Why should a buyer care?
- Because it is a sustainability story you can actually describe. Instead of an adjective on a shelf tag, there are four specific mechanisms — solar, reclaimed water, manure-to-fertiliser and egg-wash-to-feed — on one farm you can name.
